Elsa Peretti (born 1940, passed away 2021) was a designer renowned for her minimalist, organic forms and her belief that jewellery should be as natural and wearable as possible. Her design language was inspired by nature, by sculptural forms, bone structures, pebbles, flowing lines — always with a focus on elegance and simplicity.

The “Open Heart” collection by Elsa Peretti is one of her most beloved and recognisable lines. This collection celebrates the “spirit of love” with a design in which the heart is open, not filled, but receptive. The open form symbolises generosity, sensitivity and connection — a heart that leaves space.

The design is so iconic that Tiffany & Co. produces it in multiple sizes and variations in silver, gold, with or without different chain lengths. The official Tiffany website notes that the Open Heart pendant in sterling silver measures 16 mm wide on an 18” chain, reference number 60020689.

The Open Heart pendant, with its open heart shape, is both elegant and subtle. Its lines are softly rounded, without sharp angles, giving the design an organic and gentle appearance.
